    Meet 2 vs. Neely Farms

Wow Sharks, we are swimming strong this week with 96 swimmers!!  If we had perfect age group attendance awards, it would go to the 7&8 Girls and Boys - all 30 swimmers are attending this meet.  And another recognition to our 13/14 Girls this week - they’re small with 4 swimmers, but when they all attend, it means we have a relay team earning at least 3/10 points!!!

Neely Farms is another large and speedy team, but a lot of our shark’s times are close and competitive with theirs.  So be sure to eat your Wheaties!!
While we’re hopeful for a close meet (and W) against the second ranked team in our division, what is most important is that our swimmers have fun, challenge themselves, and improve in confidence and/or speed!

We had a lot of parent notes/requests this week, and the head coaches and I spent extra time trying to accommodate all of them.  This is no small task when we also have to abide by the entry rules from ASA, make sure swimmers are capable of swimming events they are placed in, and try to earn points for the team.  We hope you join us in encouraging your swimmer to do their best in the events assigned, even if it’s not their favorite.

Below are reminders and any new information for this meet below. Please read to the end!

    THURSDAY

    • Regular morning practice times tomorrow.
      • Names and Events will be written on arms/backs, so limit the sunscreen in the am so it stays!
    • Pizza and Poster Pep Rally! 12:00 - 1:30 at Nonnina’s Pizzeria (9950 Jones Bridge Rd).
      • Same as last week - not team sponsored, parent/guardian must be there, we’ll have basic supplies, feel free to bring more, and if you can’t make it, you can always make it on your own and bring it with you
      • The best two posters will win an award at Fun Friday!!
    • Swim Meet vs. Neely Farms: Arrival 4:00; Start 5:30
      • Thank you to this week’s sponsor, neighbor and Realtor Peggy Connor.  She was there last week to cheer us on, so if you see her this week; be sure to say thank you for our DJ!
      • Theme: Camo/Hide (or Can’t Hide!) our Speed: Swimmers should wear their team swimsuits, but are encouraged to come decked out/accessorized in Camo, too! The 2 most spirited prizes will be given out at Fun Friday.
      • Pray for Good Weather: In the event that there is lightening/thunder or rain hard enough that we can't see the bottom of the pool, we will go into the rec center and covered areas and wait the required 30 min, restarting with every thunder.  Both team chairs/coaches will make decisions to continue to wait if the radar looks good.  If not a decision will be made to make up the meet on another day or complete it virtually.  We will communicate updates through the DJ and SwimTopia should you decide to wait it out in your car.
      • NEW!!! We loved this at Spring Ridge last year, so now that we have a DJ, will do it at home meets.  We will be selling $1 Shout Outs by our DJ in concessions and the candy table.  You buy them, fill them out, and then take them to the DJ to announce them at a good time in the meet.  **The DJ will only announce positive and encouraging messages. **
      • Everything else is the same as last week, so you can reference that email if needed.
    • Win, Lose, We Ice Cream: Brusters on Old Alabama
      • Coaches have to move furniture and clean the pool deck before going, so if you are able to stay and help, they will be able to get to Brusters earlier and spend time with the kids.

    TGIF! It's time to Celebrate! 9:30 - 11:00 am

    • Another thank you to our sponsor Anne Tiano for providing the donuts!
      • 9:30 Awards & Donuts. Fun Swim/Games 10 - 11 am
      • Mini-sharks are welcome, but our coaches will not be able to watch them, so parental support or flotation support is needed.

You made it to the end!  The initial heat sheet and athlete entries are attached. This will give you a general idea of your swimmer’s events, but it can change throughout the course of the evening and day tomorrow as we get cancellations. Coaches will be sure change events on arms, so everybody is aware.

    Go Sharks!
